Danny Stimpson highest placed Tipton at the Midland Champs

Saturday 27th January saw the Midland Cross Country Champs begin held on the relatively flat but demanding course at Stafford Common. Danny Stimpson was the highest placed Tipton finisher with a great run for fourth place in the U17 Men.
The U15 Girls were Tipton's highest placed team with second place - Katie Harper leading the way with a great 6th place, followed by Larna Partridge (12th), Leah Sargent (16th) and Sophie Lynch (26th). The Junior men just missed out on the medals by 2 points with 4th place.
The senior men were missing a number of the team, but still managed to win a creditable bronze medal. Martin Williams led the team home with an impressive 6th place, particularly considering he could hardly walk the weekend before after being knocked over by an opening car door. Next two counters were Steve Marriott and Pete Edmondson, both undeniably having the runs of their season so far with 10th and 16th. Next came myself (Mike Buntin) and Nigel Stirk with 22nd and 27th. Tom Holden was the last counter in 31st - we'll turn him into a cross-country runner yet!
