AAAs / Olympic Trial 10,000m and Midland Champs

Phil Nicholls claimed another National AAAs medal to his growing collection finishing 2nd in 28.54mins.  Nicholls was on schedule for a pb clocking going through 5000m at 14.14mins when a fall with Moumin Geele, halted his progress,  Phil rallied back, but was now in no mans land and ended up running the rest of the race on his own.  Anthony Ford won in 28.30, who Phil beat to the National medal last year.

Tipton had some medallists in this years Midland Champs held at Alexander Stadium.  Dan Cotterill added 1500m gold to his Staffs title in the under 20 mens race.  Cotterill confident, took control of the race from the start and finished in 4mins exactly.

Martin Williams upgraded his bronze from last year to gold in the Senior Mens 5000m.  Williams winning in a last 100m sprint to win in 14.54 from Cheltenhams Jeremy Bradley in 14.55.  Tipton had 3rd and 4th with Steve Marriott and Phil Hinch.

Mel Cooksey made the senior womens 400m final and finished 4th in 57 sec.  John Millington and Phil Clamp finished 5th and 8th in the senior mens 1500m.  James Lea made the under 20 mens 400m final running 51 sec enroute.  Steve Horton also made the Under 20 mens 200m final.  Mitchell Simms finished 4th in the senior mens High Jump with 1m90.  Martin Cherrington finished 7th in under 20 high jump with 1m85.
