Victory for Nicholls

Phil Nicholls returned to tremendous form yesterday at Perry Bar in the Birmingham League. After sitting with the group for half of the first lap, Phil began to push the pace and broke away. Only the young Gaz Davies from OWLS was able to keep in contact but the elastic was well and truly broken by the last lap and Phil went on to win by 26 seconds.

Phil Hinch was also up there right from the start and fighting for third with Josh Lilley from Severn and Jean Ndayisenga from Birchfield, eventually finishing a great 5th. This was probably the best Birmingham League field in terms of depth for years.  Nigel Stirk had a great race and finished 20th one place ahead of Martin Williams. Ian Williams was 28th for fifth counter and Ian Rawlinson just outsprinting Ben Gamble for 32nd and sixth counter. Great run from Ben on his team debut for Tipton.

That gave us a decent total of 107 which left us second behind a quality Coventry team who finished with 5 in the first 11. It was absolutely great to see 21 Tipton finishers!!!

Hayley Jennings finished first counter in the Midland Women's league held on the same course. I await the full results.
