Under 13 Lads lift Team Trophy at Staffs Champs

Report courtesy of Bob Lynch:

A superb team effort gave the U13 Tipton boys victory today for the first time in many years.  On a very muddy course but with real sunshine for a change, Luke Bodin (8th) Connor Harrison (11th) and George Holden (12th) were able to hold the shield high. Well done lads!

The U13 Girls were in good form too and gained 2nd place overall, our runners there were: Isher Mander 9th, Chloe Barker 11th, Charlotte Mould 17th and Tara Moore 19th

The U15 Boys also did well and got third place: Jacob Anson 14th, Luke Vine 17th Joe Fairfax 19th and Josh Evans 22nd

The other complete junior team was the U17 Lads who were also placed third: George Duckworth 13th, Tom Hammond 14th and Adam Evans 15th.

In the U15 Girls, Ailish Craig managed 8th place and for the U17’s, Lauren Evans came in at 5th and Charlotte Davies 6th.  Charlotte was obviously in seasonal pantomime mood and decided to lose her shoe halfway round.  No sign of Prince Charming but she did bravely manage to finish on one shoe and one very muddy sock! Who needs spikes?

In the U20 Women, we had just Sophie Lynch who also decided to finish with just one shoe but still managed 3rd place – a gritty performance. There were two Senior Ladies, Sue Street who came 5th and Amie Fithern finished in 11th.  Sophie’s run counted for the Senior Women’s team, so Tipton were awarded 2nd place overall.

Finally came the U20 and Senior Men’s long muddy slog.  Phil Wilson achieved a creditable 9th in the U20 and Ben Gamble (Senior Men) gave Tipton its highest individual placing of the day in 2nd and only 14 seconds off winning! Well done him. The Senior team got 3rd place overall, so congratulations to: Ben 2nd, Phil Clamp 8th, Dean Hill 21st, Mark Wright 24th Paul Rogers 26th, Phil Wilson (again) 36th overall.
