A heavy downpour for several hours before the mens race turned the Mansfield course into a true test for cross country running. The gold medal was a done deal for Stockport after one leg, but the battle for the minor placings was a hotly contested affair between Leeds, Norwich and the Tipton quartet of Ade Holliday, Ryan Mcleod, Dan Beier and Ross Jones. Ade ran a solid first leg, but it was Ryan who took the race on and pulled the hoops up from 22nd place to 4th place, clocking the 6th fastest time of the day. Dan ran a superbly controlled leg, losing a place to Norwich but overtaing the fast fading Bedford team. On the last lap Simon Deakin pushed Ross out of the medals to take silver for Leeds, with Norwich 3rd and Tipton 4th.
In the Ladies race it was a solo run for Sarah Hood clocking 10:52 on the first lap, but without anyone to hand over to.
