Bud's Run & Sportsman's Dinner (09/03/2014)

Many of you will know Bud Baldaro. An inspirational figure in the world of athletics as a teacher, coach, mentor, promoter and above all friend. You may also know that recently he has not been too well with Parkinson's. Well now is the chance to help Bud and his family.

Following Bud's diagnosis with Parkinson's in 2009 he spoke with his family about the desire to turn this challenge into a positive scenario. Typical of the "good" man he is.

On Saturday October 4th 2014 there will be a day of events at the University Of Birmingham, in Edgbaston, to raise money for Parkinson's UK to fund research into this degenerative condition.

As well as a number of participative events such as a 5Km & 1Km run there will be many other things going on for young and old alike. In the evening there will be a Sportsman's Dinner held in the Great Hall at the University with guest speakers and a charity auction. What a great opportunity to book a table with friends and show support for this humble, humerous and "Merlin" like figure who has supported Tipton and athletics for over 40 years.

Here is an image from the Tipton Archives in the 1980's with Bud right bang in the centre of the row crouching down. Timeless.

Birmingham Cross Country League Race, 1976

Over the years Bud has raced for Tipton, coached many from the club, was instrumental in bringing success to many Tipton Harriers over the years, forged connections, brought sponsorship and made friendships that have lasted for life. A quiet word from Bud before any race is always worth an extra few seconds. He is a great man it is your chance to help him out by supporting this fund raising event.

More information is due out shortly and will be posted here in due course. For now you can check out the following links
