Loz Has A Heart (25/02/2015)

If you’re anything like me, the first thing you do on a morning is peer between the curtains to see the state of the weather.  On this occasion, it was to be a bitter cold start with icy conditions underfoot.

Creep downstairs, boil the kettle, put the bread in the toaster, quickly get changed and more importantly put on last nights ‘Match Of The Day’.  Settle down and wait…

After making the boys milk, it was run the half mile to Dudley Port, catch the 74 into Dudley then run the two mile to Russells Hall, avoiding iced up pavements where possible.  Easy.

Luckily for the organisers and runners, the temperature was slowly picking up, so by start time the course was all puddles and no ice, thankfully.

As always at the Action Heart, Tipton are well turned out, young and not so young.  Dean Bate led the hoops home, just missing out on third with Dave Nation of DASH finishing just in front by a few seconds.

Paul Rogers (8th) again finishing well inside 30 minutes to take first vet.  Loz Heathcock (14th) was next to finish, slightly irritated by finishing the wrong side of 30 by 3 seconds.

Andy Henderson and Dave Mole both made the top 20, giving us the vets team prize, unofficial of course.

In the womens race, Tessa Clarke of Wolves won, with Tiptons Hayley Jennings second. Junior girls (?) Katie Dolan (74th) and Daniela Sedgley (76th) finished well with a couple of seconds between them, in just outside 37 minutes.

So a fresh morning, to say the least, 450 braved the early morning conditions, to finish satisfied with a good mornings workout. Some to look forward to a spring marathon, others to look ahead to the track season, (or both).

Well done to those Tiptonites who ran;  #swiftandeager.
