Member of Tipton teams that won National titles 6&12 stage road relay and National cross country.

Memorable moments running for Tipton.
Running last stage of the 1972 and 1974 12 stage relays and achieving come from behind victories.
Running last stage of 1973 Midland 12 stage relay and coming from behind for the victory.
Running 9th stage National 12 stage relay and holding off Ian Stewart by a couple of seconds to maintain the lead.
Returning from illness with meningitis in 1979/80 and finishing 7th in the Midland cross and making top six in a couple of Birmingham Leagues and being a member of the team that won the National cross country champs.


Moved to the USA in 1982.
Coached High School for 3 years in Rochester NY, producing athletes that won New York State titles and finished 5th and 9th in National High School Championships. Deresa Walters set a National indoor female freshman record of 9.42.2 as a fifteen year old. Coached Rochester athletes Scott Bagley to 28.46/2,16 marathon, Mike Platt 29.15/2.18 marathon.

Moved to present residence Providence Rhode Island in 1988.
Met Irish athletes John Treacy and Richard O'Flynn first day in town, became very good friends with John and coached Richard to 28.20 and  63.20 half marathon.
I started coaching a number of Providence College athletes after graduation including the following:-

Mark Carroll, 3.50 mile, 7.30 3K, 13.03 5K, 27.46 10K, 2.10 marathon.European indoor 3K champion 2000, European 5000m bronze medal 1998.
Amy Rudolph 4.06 1500m, 5.38 2k, 8.39 3k, 15.07 5k.
Ben Noad 3x runner up Inter Counties World Cross Trials, 13.48 5K, 28.48 10K. 42nd World Cross Championships
Andy Keith 3.58 indoor mile, 7.56 3K.
Frank Conway 3.41 1500m
Keith Yuan 4.02 mile
Ken Nason 3.41 1500m, Irish 1500 champion 2000.
Bill Milany 3.41 1500m.
