Nicholls debuts at Half Marathon!
Monday, 08 March 2010 13:23

This weekend Phil Nicholls made his debut at half marathon down in Bath. Amongst others, Phil was up against former Tipton Harrier and the country's best marathoner for the last few years Dan Robinson. In breezy conditions Phil and Dan were together in 4th and 5th until the 11th mile when Dan got away. Phil finished in 65.08, an excellent debut that ranks him 4th in the UK so far this year.

Mike Aspinall and Martin Williams were also racing with Mike coming out on top with a pb by over a minute for 66.29 and 11th place, a great run and things boding well towards the London Marathon. Only three weeks after his great marathon Mart finished in 66.54.

The team came home with the victory with Paddy Kavanagh closing them out in 74.24.

Also in action this weekend was Nigel Stirk in the Milton Keynes Half Marathon, finishing in 3rd place with a solid 70 minutes dead.

Worthy of note as well was Ryan McLeod's 14.14 5k road race out in Armagh, great running after a few dodgy weeks with illness.

Steve Abrahams also had his best run to date with a great win in the Action Heart 5 with 26.27. Rich O'Sullivan was 4th and Paul Rogers 7th. Lynne Cox ran the Gloucester 20 in her build up to London, finishing 5th female with 2hr20.

Williams & Williams show how to do it abroad!
Sunday, 14 February 2010 11:29

Martin Williams knocked a minute off his pb with a tremendous run in Seville marathon this morning. Even splits of 68.50 saw Mart run 2.17.40 in cold conditions (5C). That time is under both Commonwealth and European qualifying times so now we wait and see!

Still in Spain and Ian 'Welshy' Williams ran a huge  2 minute pb with 66.18 in Barcelona half marathon. Welshy was out there running for Wales once again in cold conditions (snow even!) and that is a great break through run.

Update! Martin Williams named on Scottish Athletics website as first athlete to fulfil the commonwealth criteria
