Nicholls Dominates on Comeback Race!

The 3rd Race of the season at a greasy wet Coventry proved no barrier to Nicholls front running style.  Taking out from the front from start to finish with only Jean Ndayisenga for company.  The Burundian didnt expect to finish no less than 1st, but on the last lap Nicholls, heard the call from Bud  "Drop him on the hill!" and duly obliged and used his strength on the long uphill drag to break the Burundians attempt to win his 3rd B'ham League race in a row and surprise a few people, none other than Ndayisenga!

The team finished 2nd on the day to resurgent Coventry who have all but sewn up the league this year, with Tipton lying in 4th overall but few points seperating them from a runner up spot.  The scoring 6 comprised of, Martin Williams 16th, Nigel Stirk 20th, Dan Beier 22nd, Ian Williams 26th and Jelle Verwer 30th.  Other Tipton runners made up a victorious B team were Mike Hagar 33rd, John Millington 39th, James Ratcliffe 42nd, Tom Holden 53rd, Pat Cavanagh 68th, Steve Marriott 85th and Dean Hill 94th.

Tipton Women go from Strength to Strength!

Tipton ladies gave their best showing for a few years in the Midland Womens League held at the same venue.  For much of the race the quartet of Jo Ritson, Cath Veysey, Lynne Cox and Kate Williams occupied the Top 10 positions.   In the final lap Cath Veysey gained confidence and moved through strongly as Lynne Cox dropped back a touch.   Jo Ritson was first home for Tipton in 6th place closely followed by the fast finishing Veysey in 8th, Kate Williams resisted the charge from athletes sat behind her for 10th and Lynne Cox dropped a little confidence and slipped back to 19th in the final stages.  The women also finished 2nd team to Loughborough Uni.
