National 6 & 4 Stage Road Relays

Glorious weather for this event which as usual was held over the same 4.3km course as the Midlands. In all, there were 326 runners with the usual contingent of international standard athletes.  Tipton’s overall 17th team place and Sarah Hood’s 29th overall (15min 03) were excellent results. This was Tipton’s first top-20 finish since 2005.  We had a complete A team but with lots of coughs and colds around, only three runners in the B. Those that ran did superbly well with a liberal sprinkling of course pb’s Lynne Cox led for the A team and came in 25th at a cracking 15.31, then came Sophie Lynch in a pleasing 16.16, moving up 3 places. Amie Fithern worked very hard to drop just a couple of places (17.10).  We had Sarah on last because of she wasn’t sure about reaching Sutton on time directly from Scotland. No worries, she made it and had an absolute stormer, picking her way through 10 runners to put Tipton in a final 17th. Well done her!  The B team was firstly Sue Davies with a much improved time of 17.08. Then came Charlotte Davies who was also faster than last month at 18.22.  Finally, Lina Martino knocked a massive 46s off her Midlands result and got a really pleasing 19.01.  Lots of progress here for the Tipton ladies. Next road relay challenge will be the March 2012 Midlands 6 Stage over the 4.8km course. Only 24 weeks away!

Results Men's and Women's.
