Alan Clay R.I.P. (01/03/2012)

The club is sad to report the death of Alan Clay at the age of 84. Alan joined the club in July 1978. He was a respected field events coach as well as a hard working administrator for the club fulfilling many roles over many years. He had a strategic mind for our sport and used this to great advantage in planning track & field success both at athlete and team levels. He was instrumental in revamping the coaching structure of the club helping lay the foundations that we see today. Alan was also very active in the local community including, in the 1990's, the Chair of the Tipton City Forum where he worked tirelessly for sport in Tipton. He held many such roles including local councillor. His sense of humour and fun will be missed by all those who knew him. His funeral will be on Wednesday 7th March 2012 at 3.30pm at Gornal Wood Crematorium. Our thoughts are with his family.
