Womens National / Midland 6 Stage Relays (13/04/2013

This was a case of four races in one today - last month all three of the regional road race relays were snowed off. So today we had the regional races and national race all rolled into one. Only one race but with four sets of results and a rather complicated presentation ceremony.

No snow today but very cold for mid April with a biting wind and occasional light rain. We had just one full team which performed above expectations, scoring 16th in the National and a really good 3rd in the Midlands, giving the girls bronze medals to take home.

First off was Claire Jacobs who ran an excellent 16.58 for the 4.8k course, followed by Cath Holden who came in with a pleasing 18.37. On third leg was Kate Williams who held on well and produced 19.43. Then came Julie Caddick, not in full fitness but still able to produce a creditable 18.50. Amie Fithern on 5th leg was justifiably very happy with her time of 18.02 - a massive PB for this course and finally Sophie Lynch produced her best time for two years in 18.22. The overall team time was 1hr 50.32 which was a comfortable Midlands third ahead of Wolves & Bilston.
