Barber Half Way Up The Cut (07/07/2013)

No not the directions to a new male hairdresser but our own Penny Barber reporting that she was a competitor in this years Black Country Half Marathon that takes in a few miles of the wonderful Black Country & Birmingham canal systems. We understand the event is run on a "time trial" basis. Penny reports that she was 8th woman, 125th human. Adding :-

"This year's course had a diversion because of a towpath closure. This consisted of crossing the cut at the footbridge just before Coseley Tunnel to take the starboard side towpath, ascending the (85) steps at the end and then back round via School St, Bayer St & Bridge St. No one seems sure of the course length, Coseley Tunnel messes with the head of the best GPS. Some participants were claiming 14 miles....It was a glorious sunny day, with some shade if you were in an early group, and welcome cups of water over head stations every 3 miles."

Results (Other members from the club may have been running but there is a distinct absence of club information from the results)
