Midlands Women XC Race 2 (06/12/2014)

This was the mystery race where the venue was unknown until quite recently! Thanks to R&N for putting it on. General opinion of the course was favourable - undulating but nothing really steep and, no horrible mud. Good too for the spectators, who could jog around and see the runners at several spots. It was a also a lovely bright winter's day with no wind. There were two laps to do and a total distance of about 5k - shorter than some recent races and a welcome change really.

We had Amie, Cath, Penny and Sue Street-Hall running in a strong field. This was Cath's first race since becoming a mum less than 5 months ago so no miracles expected. As it happened she still finished in the top 100 so, well done her!  The Tipton lasses ran round in more or less the same order from start to finish. Amie was first home in 36th, having shaken off the bug which slowed her last time. Then came Sue in 56th, Penny in 77th and Cath in 99th.   Team score was 169, not as good as last time but we had some runners missing today -  hopefully they will be available in January for Race 3 at Droitwich.
