Bob Lynch Writes... (10/01/2016)

At least the rain held off and it was quite warm but underfoot is was stunningly muddy. I can't remember Sandwell Valley Park being this soggy ever before. Nine brave ladies represented Tipton today - Amie Fithern, Sophie Lynch, Lynne Hill, Sue Street, Sue Davies, Penny Barber, Joanne Acha, Claire Hotchkiss and Sally-Ann Walker. It was 2 full laps of the 3km course, with one particularly testing muddy bank and the usual mix of undulating and flatground for the rest.

There were some very tired-looking legs at the end but success for Tipton with Amie carrying off 4th, Sophie 7th, Lynne 17th and Sue Street 18th. This combination gave the Tipton SW team 2nd place overall - very pleasing. The Vet Ladies' team also came second, with (in that category) Lynne 7th, Sally-Ann 10th, Penny 13th and Joanne 25th. Well done both teams!

Quick mention for Rosa Lewis (U17-7th) Katie Dolan (U20-5th) and Sian Reynolds (U20-7th) who ran at the same time as the Senior Women and showed equal courage.

This event is the main qualifier for the Inter Counties on 12th March and with a following wind, Tipton should be well represented in the Staffordshire teams.
