WMYA XC League - Round 2 (22/11/2016)

Same Hale reports from a busy weekend for the club.

Warley Woods Race Report - WMYACC League Round 2

The weather forecast was grim but a team of 25 turned out at 7.30am on a very cold and wild morning at Warley Woods for our home fixture. There were a few sore heads after Saturday’s Presentation Evening but everyone worked together to put on a fantastic event. We had a great team of 40 marshals encouraging the athletes on. It was a very challenging course and there were plenty of tears from athletes not used to the hilly terrain. The Tipton Tuffies were undaunted and our training is certainly paying off. There was a very good turnout and you all made me proud. It really is a good course and very spectator friendly. Special congratulations to those wearing their Tipton vests for the first time. A big thank you to everyone who gave their time to make the event such a success.

Under 17 Women

There was some fantastic running on display in a race dominated by Halesowen AC who had four athletes finishing in the top 6. Great to see Rosa Lewis returning to form to finish 14th (20 place improvement), closely followed by Rae Nicholls 15th (7 place improvement) and Beth Walker 20th. Good running from Amelia Caddick 32nd and Megan Moore 37th. Commiserations to Sarah Henderson who had to pull out mid race due to illness. Well run all of you. Team 5th

Under 11 Boys

111 boys stood on the start line for this gruelling big lap of the park. Just 2 Tipton Harriers out and they both ran really well. First back was Tom Lucas in 37th (11 place improvement) followed by Kavan Fletcher 72nd in his first race for the club. If anyone knows any boys who might like to give XC a try lets get them down the club and training to try to build up our under 11’s squad. Team 16th
