Throwback Thursday (17/03/2016)

This weeks look back takes us to Birmingham University and a run staged by Pete Hinton around the campus. We do not know the exact year but, judging by some the faces, it was probably the early 2000's.

The race was staged by Pete Hinton, one time member of the Harriers, who worked at the University in the Department of Chemical Engineering. It was a 5Km run around the campus raising money for a local charity. The race began in front of the Great Hall and finished under the clock tower affectionately known as "Old Joe".

Using some of the numbers as identifiers we can spot Marion Sutton (410), Nigel Stirk (752), Kevin Lamb (747), tall Matt Lockett (729, blue Birmingham University vest), Mike Buntin (just behind Matt). Paul Shipway (727) from Sparkhill Harriers is in the red vest running wide on the grass.

We think it is Andy Parker in the Tipton vest with the numbers 88 just visible. He has Danny Gibbons (No's 42 visible) along side him, just behind Nigel Stirk. There is another Tipton runner in the middle background wearing No. 773 - any ideas?
